We have exciting things planned for the 2013 Days of ’47 celebration, from the Royalty Pageant and Parade, to the Rodeo and all the other events. Our 2013 celebration will be full of thrills and spills.  Schedule your summer plans to take advantage of our many activities — most of which are free to the public.  Grab your hat, pull on those boots and c’mon down!

Days of ’47 Board Elects New President and Officers

 

Salt Lake City, Utah  17 October 2012 – The Days of ’47, Inc. elected new officers for the 2013 event season at their Board Meeting on Tuesday, October 16, 2012.  Craig Peterson of Salt Lake City will serve as the new President replacing Eric Jergensen.

Mr. Peterson recently retired as the Program Director for the Utah International Trade and Diplomacy Office.  Over a long career in public service, he was also employed in various capacities by the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce and Salt Lake City.  He is a dedicated supporter of charitable efforts in the community.  Mr. Peterson states “I have served on Days’ board for some eighteen years and am pleased and proud to have been elected.  The Days of ’47 serves both as a celebration of and a reminder to all of us that the pioneering spirit that helped found our great state should remain alive and well and more importantly, those principles are valuable in guiding us today.”

Vice Presidents                   Jodene Smith – Co-Chair Days of ’47 Parade

Jim Williams – Owner, Fly By Night Enterprises and Co-Chair Days of ’47 Parade

Legal Counsel                     Brian Lloyd – Shareholder, Parr Brown Gee and Loveless

Co- Treasurers                  Scott Westra – Executive Vice President and CFO, Workers Compensation Fund

Michael Allen – Financial Analyst, Workers Compensation Fund

Secretary                          Kathi Izatt – Paralegal, Parr Brown Gee and Loveless

The 2013 events are in planning now and the calendar calls for a total of 12 events including The Days of ’47 Parade, Rodeo, concerts and several other family-oriented events.  The official calendar will be published in January, 2013.

Days of ’47 Rodeo

As we have done for generations, The Days of ’47 Rodeo will bring you plenty of bucking broncos, fiesty cowboys and racing cowgirls beginning on July 19th through the 24th (except Sunday).  Did you hear — we’re bringing in some bands, there are great new acts and this will be the best year yet at the Rodeo!   Listen to Dick Nourse introduce our Rodeo here and watch the fast action.

Days of ’47 KSL 5 Parade

The Days of ’47 KSL 5 Parade will be held on Wednesday,  July 24, 2013, in downtown Salt Lake City beginning at 9:00 am.  For a new adventure, brings the kids, the sleeping bags and the hot dogs downtown on the evening of the 23rd.  You can camp out on Salt Lake City streets along the route on Tuesday evening.  This is the biggest sleepover your family and friends will ever experience!  Remember to bring enough water to keep everyone hydrated.
